Lower Your High Blood Pressure Naturally

The number of people being diagnosed with high blood pressure is growing at an alarming rate. Many people, myself included, hate the idea of ‘popping a pill’ for every ailment we have. You might ask yourself, what else can we do? Maybe it’s time we look at natural remedies for high blood pressure.

Holistic home remedies have been used for centuries for almost anything you can imagine. High blood pressure is no different. Why should we use the high priced, side-effect riddled, prescription drug when we can get the same or maybe better results from a more natural approach to regulating high blood pressure?

What causes high blood pressure? Some factors such as diet, genetics, excessive alcohol consumption, and smoking are only a few things that can make your blood pressure skyrocket. Diabetics can also have problems regulating their blood pressure.

Some natural remedies for high blood pressure are:

Garlic – This is great for your overall health, not just your high blood pressure. It is also thought to lower triglyceride levels and reduce the incidence of blood clots.

Potassium and magnesium – Some foods that are high in these minerals are bananas, soy, molasses, watermelon, and grapes. What a yummy way to keep your blood pressure in check!

Calcium – Found in leafy green vegetables, milk and yogurt.

Fiber – Broccoli and other vegetables high in fiber would be a great addition to your diet.

Cayenne Pepper – facilitates good blood flow

Vitamin C – a great antioxidant

You may have to make some adjustment to your lifestyle in order to lower your blood pressure. Being overweight and stressed out can be another contributing factor to high blood pressure. Changing your eating habits can be hard, but well worth it in the long run. Looking and feeling better is pretty priceless.

If stress is a contributing factor to your high blood pressure, you might consider a yoga class or meditation to help you relax. Getting a massage is also a very nice way to de-stress. Consider the situations which bring your stress on and see if there are ways to avoid or neutralize them.

I never thought too much about my blood pressure until I was diagnosed. Now I think about it a lot! I am not a doctor and before you make any drastic changes, like not taking your prescriptions, you should consult yours. Natural remedies for high blood pressure do work and they can work for you, too.
